It started with a question.
Why did the finest meals of a journey through Africa so rarely make it onto a menu? Not the lodge dinners, but the ones eaten standing at a roadside fire, or seated on the floor of a coastal kitchen with flour on every surface. Meals cooked by people who had never once written the recipe down, because it lived in their hands instead.
Savouring Africa began as an answer to that question. A small circle of guides, cooks, and custodians who agreed to open their kitchens and their fires to travellers willing to slow down. What we built is not a restaurant group or a tour operator in the usual sense. It is a standing invitation to the table, wherever in Africa that table happens to be.
The people the recipes actually belong to.
Naomi learned the bush-breakfast tradition from her mother before sunrise, decades before it had a name. She now trains every cook who joins our Mara table.
Juma reads a fire the way others read a thermometer. Every nyama choma we serve passes through his hands first, or not at all.
Amina's family has traded spice on the Lamu waterfront for four generations. She now designs every coastal menu we serve, season by season.
Come sit at the table.
