What we collect, why, and what we don't, written to be read, not skimmed past.

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Savouring Africa ("we," "us") runs a small, deliberately simple website. This page explains, without the usual boilerplate, exactly what information it collects, what we do with it, and what we don't do at all. If any part of it is unclear, write to us. A real person will answer.

Information We Collect

We only collect what you choose to give us, through two forms on this site:

  • Journal newsletter. Just your email address, if you subscribe.
  • Concierge enquiries. Your full name, email address, preferred travel dates (if you share them), your message, which kind of enquiry you selected and, if you arrived from a specific itinerary page, which one prompted your enquiry.

That is the complete list. We don't use cookies, analytics, or any tracking script, so we don't collect anything about how you browse this site: no IP logging for analytics purposes, no behavioural profiling, nothing running quietly in the background.

How We Use It

Enquiry details are used for exactly one purpose: so a concierge can reply to you personally, usually within a day. A subscribed email is used only to send occasional journal dispatches: new journeys, seasonal notes, dispatches from the road. We never sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their own marketing, and we don't use it for advertising of any kind.

Cookies & Tracking

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking software, ours or anyone else's. There is nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing collecting in the first place.

Third-Party Services

Two outside services are involved in running this site, and neither receives anything you type into our forms except as described below:

  • Fontshare delivers one of the typefaces used on this site. Your browser requests that font file directly from their servers, and as with any request to any website, this shares your IP address with them as a normal part of how the web works.
  • Supabase securely stores whatever you submit through our forms. It is our database host, not a marketing or analytics service, and has no access to anything beyond what you submit.

How We Protect It

Submissions travel to our database over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Our database is deliberately configured so that the website itself can only add new submissions to it. It has no ability to read, edit, or delete information once submitted, even if someone found a way to misuse it. Only Savouring Africa's own administrators can access what you've submitted, and only through Supabase's own secured dashboard.

How Long We Keep It

We keep enquiry and subscription information for as long as it's useful for corresponding with you or maintaining your subscription, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first.

Your Rights

Wherever you're writing to us from, you can ask us at any time to show you what we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, remove you from the newsletter list, or delete your information entirely. Email enquiries@savouringafrica.com and we'll handle it personally. Our systems are built so the site itself can't read your data back, so requests like these are always actioned by a real person, not an automated process.

We're based in Kenya, and handle personal information in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019, under the oversight of the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. If you're writing from elsewhere, you may also have rights under your own local law, and we'll do our best to honor them regardless of where you're asking from.

Children's Privacy

Our journeys are planned for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children, and if we ever learn that we have, we'll delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If this page changes, we'll update the date at the top. We won't change what we collect or how we use it without reflecting it here first.
